SAM'S STORY

Sam is an incredibly funny and entertaining young man, he lives in England with his parents John and Rachel and his older sister Amy. He is very loving when it suits him, enjoys company in small groups and loves one to one interaction. He likes the simple things in life like his iPad, walks in quiet places and his family. Sam can be very challenging at times when he becomes overwhelmed and can be aggressive to his parents and sister, although he conforms in school and with other people. He is non verbal and uses his own version of Makaton which his teacher refers to as Samaton.

Variant type: de novo

Clinical features: small stature, severe learning disability, non-verbal, hearing and sight loss, including cortical visual impairment, sensory processing and autistic tendencies.
